Meet the Producer

With a history rooted deep in the Rhône Valley, Château Maucoil (pronounced moh-kwahl) is based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and is one of the most historic and respected organic producers in the region. Its vineyards, planted with old vines on sandy and pebble-strewn soils, benefit from the same terroir as neighbouring Châteauneuf-du-Pape, giving remarkable concentration and character to the wines.

Production

Hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted berry by berry before vinification. A blend of Grenache Noir (50%), Syrah (25%) and Mourvèdre (25%), each variety and parcel is fermented separately. After around 25 days of traditional maceration with pumping over, rack-and-return, and gentle punching down, the wine is aged in vats until bottling.
