Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Branco is a vibrant white wine from the Douro, crafted from carefully selected grapes grown at 600 metres above sea level in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. The vineyards, planted on schist soils in either vertical “vinha ao alto” rows or terraced “patamares”, benefit from a wide diurnal temperature range that allows slow ripening, producing fruit with excellent flavour intensity while retaining natural acidity. The 2024 vintage experienced a rainy winter and early spring, mild summer temperatures, and a slow, steady ripening period, resulting in grapes of exceptional quality.

Meet the producer
Founded in 1952 by Fernando Nicolau de Almeida, Casa Ferreirinha revolutionised Douro still wines and remains a standard-bearer for quality under the guidance of Luís Sottomayor. The estate encompasses 520 hectares across the Douro subregions, with flagship vineyards at Quinta da Leda, combining tradition with modern winemaking to craft wines of precision, elegance, and depth.

Production
After hand-harvesting, the grapes were gently crushed and destemmed. The must was settled and racked off its gross lees before undergoing fermentation at controlled temperatures between 16–18ºC for approximately 20 days. Post-fermentation, the wine was matured in stainless steel for five months to preserve its bright fruit character, followed by careful fining and filtration prior to bottling.

Tasting notes
Lemon yellow in colour with golden hints, the nose is complex, featuring white stone and tropical fruits, delicate citrus, floral notes, and subtle minerality. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with crisp pear notes and a long, elegant finish.
