Distillery & Production

Produced at Caol Ila Distillery on Islay, founded in 1846 and situated on the shores of the Sound of Islay. The distillery uses clean water from Loch Nam Ban and traditional copper pot stills. This unpeated expression is aged for 18 years in oak casks, allowing the spirit's natural character to develop without the influence of peat smoke, revealing the distillery's elegant maritime character.

Tasting Notes

The nose reveals smoky bonfires, soapy water, wet wool, and hints of mineral oil and wax, with a smouldering beach bonfire in the distance. The palate is smooth and mildly sweet with good acidity, sea salt, spiced notes, and peppery flavours. Firm, smooth, and light to medium-bodied. The finish is lingering and charred with a slightly sour, complex character.
