Campbells Limited Release Rutherglen Durif is a powerful and expressive red wine made from the original Rutherglen Durif clone, a rare variety that thrives in the warm, continental climate of Rutherglen. Deep magenta in colour, it offers aromas of spiced black plum and vanillin oak. The palate is rich and full-bodied, bursting with ripe black plum fruit, warm spice, and notes of chocolate and mocha oak. Fine, integrated tannins provide balance and structure, making this wine both approachable in its youth and capable of graceful ageing.

Campbells of Rutherglen is a fifth-generation, family-owned winery that has become synonymous with quality and craftsmanship in Victoria’s Rutherglen region. Known for its commitment to regional expression, the Campbells family combines traditional techniques with modern precision to craft wines of depth, balance, and authenticity.

Production

Fruit was harvested throughout March and April and fermented on skins for 10 days to extract colour and tannin. The wine was then matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak puncheons to enhance richness, texture, and integration before blending and bottling.

Tasting notes

Dense magenta in colour with aromas of spiced black plum and vanillin oak. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, showing layers of ripe black plum, warm spice, and chocolate/mocha oak. Smooth mid-palate weight and fine tannins deliver balance and finesse.
