Optima is made with a bend of hand selected grapes - 40% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon which have been matured separately for 18 months in French oak before being blended and aged for a further 6 months in barrels and bottle matured for another 24 months! The long wait is worth it though.

A wine with a fantastic perfume of blackcurrant, cassis and earthy richness. The palate is silky smooth and supple with flavours of dark berried fruit, Christmas cake spices and is well balanced between fruit and oak.

This wine pays homage to Johann Rupert's brother, Anthonij Rupert whos dream it was to make Cape wines which could compete with the finest in the world. L'Ormarins where the wines are made and bottled is a 17th Century Huguenot farm. The farm carries Anthonij's legacy and continues with his vision for future generation.
