Since the late 1980s, Abel Mendoza and Maite Fernández have been quietly redefining Rioja. Working from old-vine vineyards in the high-altitude foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains near San Vicente de la Sonsierra, they focus on terroir-driven, small-batch wines that express the true character of grape and place. Their philosophy avoids manipulation or heavy oak, instead crafting wines of purity, honesty, and elegance. Each vintage reflects Abel’s intimate understanding of Rioja’s diverse terroirs, producing authentic, varietal-driven wines of remarkable depth.

Viticulture & Winemaking
All harvesting is carried out by hand, with each plot and grape variety picked individually at optimal ripeness. Abel Mendoza is particularly celebrated for his mastery of Rioja’s traditional white varieties, vinifying each separately in new oak barrels to capture their unique identity and highlight the subtle nuances of the blend.
