Dow's
Dow’s is one of the great names of the Douro, a house known for its depth, structure and unmistakably dry style. For more than two centuries, the Symington family has shaped the character of Dow’s Ports, working with some of the finest vineyards in the Upper Douro, including Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira. The result is a portfolio that balances power with precision, always rooted in the schistous slopes and intense climate of the valley. Dow’s Ports are celebrated for their purity of fruit, firm backbone and ability to age gracefully, yet they remain wonderfully approachable in their younger expressions.

A Style Defined by Structure and Eleganc
Dow’s has long been associated with a drier, more disciplined style of Port. The fruit is sourced from steep, rugged vineyards where low yields and intense sunlight create grapes of remarkable concentration. In the winery, the focus is on clarity and balance, allowing the natural character of the Douro to shine through. Whether in their rich, aromatic whites or their deeply fruited reds, Dow’s Ports carry a sense of refinement that has become the hallmark of the house.
The Identity of Dow’s
Dow’s stands as one of the Douro’s most respected houses, producing Ports that combine depth, structure and a distinctive sense of place. From the approachable richness of the Fine White to the layered complexity of the LBV, the wines reflect a long heritage of craftsmanship and a commitment to quality that spans generations. Each bottle carries the character of the Douro’s dramatic landscape and the precision of a producer that has shaped the region’s reputation for excellence.

Dow’s Late Bottled Vintage (LBV)
Dow’s LBV is crafted from a single vintage and aged in large oak vats for around four to six years before bottling. This extended maturation softens the wine while preserving the structure and depth that define Dow’s style. The result is a Port with rich black fruit, dark chocolate and warm spice, supported by firm yet polished tannins. It is ready to drink on release but has the concentration to develop further in bottle. LBV offers a taste of vintage Port character without the need for long cellaring, making it one of the most rewarding and accessible wines in the Dow’s range.
Dow’s Fine White is made from traditional Douro white grape varieties and fermented off the skins at cool temperatures to preserve freshness. It is aged for an average of three years in seasoned oak, developing a rich golden colour and complex nutty aromas. The palate is smooth and balanced, with notes of citrus, honey and almond, lifted by excellent acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. It is delicious served chilled on its own, mixed into a long drink with tonic and mint, or used as a versatile base for cocktails.
