Jura One For The Road And Jura Tastival 2016

Two Limited Edition Whiskies For You To Enjoy
Exciting news for whisky drinkers and collectors alike as two limited edition Jura whiskies arrive this month. The first is the very rare Jura One For The Road , a splendid malt marking the retirement of Willie Cochrane, Distillery Manager and much loved whisky personality. The second treat is Jura Tastival 2016 , the annual distillery release celebrating the Tastival festival held on Jura earlier this year.
Jura One For The Road 22 Years Old Pinot Noir Finish
Willie Cochrane came to Jura in 1977 planning to stay just one year. Little did he know that starting as a maintenance man with little whisky knowledge, his 39-year career would inspire a whisky dedicated to him! His mechanics background served well with the distillery’s machinery. For 11 years he was the distillery manager, known for both excellent whisky creations and his friendly demeanour. He welcomed thousands of visitors and was integral to the island community.
What better way to honour his legacy than this limited edition malt? Jura One For The Road, a 22-year-old single malt, is the final expression bottled under Willie’s care.
One For The Road boasts an exceptional Pinot Noir finish, bottled at cask strength (47% ABV), with natural colour and non-chill filtered. Only 5,000 bottles worldwide.
Nose
Freshly baked bread, moist walnut cake, over-ripe pineapple, and vanilla. A hint of black bitter chocolate, Java coffee, and tangy macaroons to finish.
Taste
Ginger, cassis, frangipane, and caramelised peaches. Glazed nectarines, pears in red wine, and soft cranberries. A finale of Turkish delight, fig syrup, and cherry cake.

Jura Tastival 2016 Edition
Every year Jura distillery hosts Tastival, a global whisky celebration on the island. The 2016 festival, held in late May, showcased new ways to enjoy Jura whisky through sensory experiences. For those unable to attend, Jura releases a special limited edition Tastival bottling after each event. This year’s edition was chosen with fan input on packaging! Tastival releases tend to be more experimental than standard expressions. The 2016 version was finished in three distinct sherry casks: an 11-year-old Palomino Fino, a 15-year-old "Amoroso" oloroso, and a 30-year-old "Apostoles" oloroso, creating a unique flavour profile.
Nose
Hot creamy caramel, roasted hazelnuts, over-ripe pears, and soft vanilla. Maple syrup, delicate aged oloroso sherry, and crushed almonds contribute to an opulent dram.
Taste
Baked apple segments dusted with Demerara sugar and cinnamon, kiwi fruits, and hot mulled wine. A fusion of sun-dried sultanas, glazed pineapple, and lemon verbena offers a perfect aftertaste.
