This expression is part of Diageo’s Flora & Fauna series, which highlights lesser-known distilleries with distinctive house styles. Mannochmore, located near Elgin, is typically used in blends, but this 12-year-old bottling showcases its individual character. Matured in a mix of American oak casks and bottled at 43% ABV, it offers a refreshing and direct drinking experience.

On the nose, it begins with green twigs and a hint of brimstone, evolving into green apples, lemon zest and toasted oak. There’s a light malty sweetness that balances the initial herbal sharpness. The palate is fresh and bright, delivering flavours of dry oak spice, green grass, apples and oranges. A touch of sulphur and vanilla adds complexity without overwhelming the clean structure. The finish is lingering and dry, with a subtle cereal and citrus peel note that fades gently.
