Camino Africana Single Vineyard Old Vine Chenin Blanc is a dry, medium-bodied white wine from Stellenbosch, South Africa, crafted with minimal intervention to allow the expression of the site and the old vines. It displays pronounced minerality and a distinctive salty, umami character on the palate, reflecting decades of struggle in the soil and the unique terroir of the vineyards.

David Finlayson Wines is a boutique South African winery committed to producing wines that reflect the character of their vineyards with minimal interference. The winery focuses on expressing terroir and vine age, crafting wines that are authentic, balanced, and distinctive.

Production

Grapes are hand-picked from two bushvine vineyards planted in the 1960s. The fruit is pressed whole bunch and fermented with natural yeast in older French oak barrels. After primary fermentation, the wine is lightly sulphured to prevent malolactic fermentation and matured for 12 months on the lees to enhance texture and complexity.

Medium-bodied and dry with pronounced minerality, the wine offers a subtle salty, umami flavour. The palate is textured and elegant, showcasing the depth and complexity of old vines.
