This is the inaugural release of single vintages from Chairman's Reserve. Made from a blend of distillates from the year 2005, coming off the John Dore pot still and the coffey column still.
During the initial four year maturation period the distillates are aged independently in their own casks before being blended together by the Cellar Master - Evanius Harris and then put back into barrel for an additional 10 years of rest.
The nose is pleasantly balanced, oaky and complex with notes of honey, orange, raisin, vanilla, toffee with brown sugar and green apples. The palate is initially slightly sweet which quickly dissipates and gives way to oaky raisin notes with hints of vanilla, caramel and toffee. The finish is mildly tannic with a pleasant spicy finish.
