Meet the Producer

Painted Wolf Wines is committed to sustainability and conservation, sourcing organically certified grapes from Kasteelsig Vineyard and sustainably farmed grapes from Werdie Farm. The vineyards are planted on red Glenrosa and shale-rich duplex soils, ungrafted and unirrigated, producing expressive, terroir-driven wines.

Production

Grapes are hand-picked into small baskets. Part of the batch is fermented in open bins with hand punch-downs four times daily, while the remainder is fermented in a rototank. No commercial yeast is added, allowing natural fermentation to enhance varietal purity. The wine matures for 14 months in a blend of French and American oak barrels, approximately 30% of which are new, providing structure and complexity while preserving vibrant fruit.

Tasting Notes

Aromatic red berries are layered with gentle spice and smooth tannins. The palate is bright and expressive, finishing long and balanced.

Pairs wonderfully with deeply flavoured dishes such as mole, Peking duck, or osso bucco. Also excellent with grilled meats or hearty stews.
