Description
The Botanist Gin is distilled on the Scottish island of Islay at the Bruichladdich distillery who are more famed for their whisky. The only gin to be distilled on the island contains 31 botanicals, 22 of which are hand foraged on Islay itself. The other nine are classic gin botanicals such as orris root, cassia bark and coriander seed. A special team of foragers are tasked with obtaining the rest, a harder task than what you would imagine considering the marshy, windswept terrain of the island!
The gin is distilled in a unique Lomond pot still affectionately referred to as 'Ugly Betty'. It is here that the painstakingly slow 17 hour distillation occurs, allowing the full flavours of the many botanicals to be released in full. The results of this drawn out process are well worth the effort with a floral and very complex gin that brings a long respected provenance to every glass of G&T it is poured into. .
