Island Scotch whisky refers to single malt whiskies produced on the islands surrounding mainland Scotland—excluding Islay, which is recognised as its own distinct whisky region. Although not officially classified as a separate region under Scotch Whisky Regulations, the Islands are often considered an informal subregion of the Highlands due to their unique geographical and flavour characteristics.
Talisker from Skye is famed for its bold, peppery character with coastal depth, while Highland Park from Orkney offers a balanced profile of honey, heather, and subtle smoke. Tobermory and its peated counterpart Ledaig from Mull, Arran from the Isle of Arran, and Jura from the Isle of Jura all contribute to the rich tapestry of flavours associated with Island Scotch.
