Blended whisky is a type of whisky made by combining different styles of whisky—typically a mix of malt whisky and grain whisky—from one or more distilleries. This blending process allows producers to craft a consistent flavour profile, often smoother and more approachable than single malt varieties. While some blends include high-quality single malts, others may incorporate lighter grain spirits or neutral alcohols to balance cost and taste. Blended whisky is the most widely consumed style globally, with iconic brands like Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, and Jameson leading the charge. In Scotch whisky, for example, a blended whisky must contain both malt and grain whisky, all aged for a minimum of three years.
