Von Siebenthal Carmenere Gran Reserva is an elegant expression of Chilean Carmenere, grown in the Aconcagua Valley, where the combination of coastal breezes and Andes foothills provides ideal conditions for slow, even ripening. The vineyard terraces offer excellent drainage and exposure, producing grapes with intense colour, refined tannins, and complex aromatics.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures for 15–20 days. Post-fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barrels for 14–16 months, enhancing structure and complexity while allowing the rich fruit profile to shine. The extended ageing ensures a polished, layered wine with integrated tannins.
Tasting Notes
This Carmenere displays a deep ruby hue with purple highlights. The bouquet is rich and layered, showing notes of blackcurrant, red plum, roasted red pepper, dark chocolate, green olive, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and velvety, with well-balanced acidity, smooth tannins, and concentrated dark fruit flavours that evolve into a long, persistent finish with hints of cocoa and black pepper.
Food Pairing
Ideal with grilled meats, beef brisket, lamb tagine, or hearty vegetable stews. It also complements hard, mature cheeses such as aged Manchego or Comté. The wine’s structure and complexity make it suitable for slow-cooked dishes or rich sauces.
Serving Temperature
Best served at 16–18°C to highlight its aromatic intensity and velvety texture.
