Description
Description
Champagne Louis Roederer Rosé is a finely crafted expression of the House’s commitment to precision, sustainability, and terroir-driven winemaking. It captures the richness and vibrancy of Pinot Noir balanced by the finesse of Chardonnay, with a distinctive purity and elegance that reflects Roederer’s pioneering approach.
Meet the producer
Founded in 1776, Champagne Louis Roederer remains one of the few great Champagne houses to remain family-owned and independent, now led by the seventh generation, Frédéric Rouzaud. With 240 hectares of vineyards located exclusively in the Grands and Premiers Crus villages, Roederer is self-sufficient for 70% of its non-vintage needs and 100% of its vintage Champagnes.
A pioneer in sustainable viticulture, the estate practises regenerative, organic, and permaculture-inspired farming. Over 135 hectares are certified organic, with the remainder in conversion, reflecting their philosophy of working hand in hand with nature to express each terroir’s unique character.
Production
The Rosé is made predominantly from Pinot Noir grown in Cumières, one of Champagne’s earliest-ripening villages, where south-facing slopes and reflected light from the River Marne ensure excellent phenolic ripeness. Additional fruit from Hautvillers, Dizy, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ adds aromatic depth and complexity. Chardonnay from Chouilly contributes tension and freshness.
Louis Roederer employs its unique infusion technique, where a small amount of Chardonnay juice is added to the Pinot Noir maceration, allowing co-fermentation for perfect integration of flavour, colour, and structure. Around 15% of the wine is fermented in oak, 21% undergoes malolactic fermentation, and the dosage is 7g/l. The wine spends four years ageing on lees before release.
Tasting notes
An expressive bouquet of zesty citrus and wild red fruits, layered with notes of raspberries and blood orange. The palate is broad and vinous yet finely poised, showing velvety fruit and chalky freshness. A subtle tannic structure adds depth and texture, leading to a savoury, saline finish of great persistence.
Food match
Perfect as an apéritif or paired with refined dishes such as duck breast with cherry glaze, seared tuna, or lobster with citrus butter.
Grape varieties
