False Bay Windswept Sauvignon Blanc is crafted from cool, windswept coastal vineyards in Stellenbosch, where the proximity to the Atlantic ensures naturally balanced grapes with vibrant acidity and pure varietal character. The result is a fresh, zesty, and mineral-driven Sauvignon Blanc that balances citrus brightness with subtle herbaceous and peachy depth, offering a refined alternative to more overtly tropical expressions of the grape.
Meet the Producer
False Bay Vineyards, founded by Paul Boutinot of Waterkloof, was created to produce authentic wines made with minimal intervention. Using sustainably farmed vineyards, natural fermentations, and traditional winemaking methods, the team is committed to making honest, expressive wines that reflect their coastal terroir.
Production
Grapes are sourced from low-yielding vineyards in Stellenbosch, some just three miles from the Atlantic Ocean. These sites provide slow ripening, natural acidity, and concentrated flavours. Grapes are hand-harvested, with a portion of the juice fermented spontaneously with wild yeast and the remainder inoculated. The wine spends at least six months on lees before bottling. No additions are made apart from sulphur. Vegan-friendly, sustainably farmed, and naturally crafted.
Tasting Notes
Fresh and zesty with grassy, dry bay leaf aromatics and mineral undertones. The palate is restrained yet vibrant, with layers of citrus, green apple, and ripe peach, all carried by a crisp, refreshing acidity.
