Clos du Marquis Saint-Julien is a distinguished Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Julien appellation, offering a refined expression of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc from a prestigious Médoc terroir. This wine is celebrated for its balance, elegance, and age-worthy structure.
Meet the producer
Clos du Marquis is the second wine of the famed Château Léoville Las Cases, crafted to reflect the quality and pedigree of the estate’s vineyards while offering slightly earlier accessibility than the Grand Vin. The estate is renowned for producing wines with classic Saint-Julien character—structured, precise, and harmoniously balanced.
Production
Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, followed by long maceration periods to extract colour, flavour, and tannins. The wine then matures in French oak barrels, approximately 50–60% new, for 18–20 months to develop complexity, structure, and a silky texture.
Tasting notes
Deep garnet with brick hints, the nose exhibits blackcurrant, cassis, graphite, and subtle cedar aromas. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and elegant, with fine-grained tannins, a rich core of black fruit, and notes of tobacco and spice. The finish is long, refined, and persistent.
Food match
Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, venison, or hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Cheddar.
