Equiano starts its journey at Gray's distillery in Mauritius, where fresh molasses is barrelled for 10 years in a combination of French Limousin Oak and Cognac casks, giving the liquid complexity and depth of flavour.
It's then blended with award-winning rum from Foursquare, that has been barrelled in American White Oak, formally matured bourbon providing a one-of-a-kind naturally flavoured rum. Aged for a minimum of eight years and carefully cultivated in two different yet distinct tropical climates means Equiano matures at a far faster rate than many other dark spirits, delivering a liquid that is like no other.
Equality and diversity run deep in their business and set up the Equiano Foundation whose sole purpose is to fund and support ground level freedom and equality projects annually. They will do this by giving 5% of company profits to the Equiano Foundations chosen charity.
