WHERE DOES TEQUILA COME FROM?

Tequila is distilled from the Blue Agave plant, which is primarily found in Mexico, and used historically as food and medicine. Tequila was invented in the early 16th century when Spanish conquistadors arrived with copper alembics and created ‘Vino De Mezcal’.

Blanco, Reposado and Anejo Tequila are each made slightly differently. Reposado and Anejo Tequila require cask ageing for various amounts of time. However Blanco is considered 100% Blue Agave and the purest form of Tequila, because of this it is believed to be Gluten-Free and suitable for Coeliacs!

 

Creative Cocktails

When thinking of Tequila you probably think of shots, but there are some delicious cocktails available.

The first cocktail that springs to mind is the classic Margarita with a salted rim to take away from that sour taste. Others include the Tequila Sunrise, Long Island Iced Tea or a Paloma.

Looking for something a bit different? Try a Reposado Old-Fashioned or an El Diablo.
