Limited Edition Tarquin's Tonquin Gin

We are pleased to announce that Southwestern Distillery have released a new and very unique limited edition gin that will run for ten batches from now until Christmas.
Tarquins Tonquin Limited Edition Gin
This gin is a real boundary pusher and demonstrates the distillery's admirable urge to experiment and deliver spirits that exceed all expectations. Tarquin has used his ever-popular base dry gin and added Tonka beans and clementine to the mix.
About Tonka Beans
Tonka beans, also known as Tonquin or Tonkin beans, are harvested from massive Cumaru trees in South America. These dark, wrinkly seeds are soft when first harvested but are dried over months of storage, during which time they become firm and easy to grate.
The main producers and exporters of the Tonka bean are Venezuela, Brazil, and Colombia. The Tonka bean is very complex for such a small seed and contains flavours of vanilla, coconut, sour cherry, clove, and liquorice.
The bean has many uses and is often used as a vanilla substitute, in perfumes, and to flavour tobacco products. It’s used extensively in French cuisine, and its flavour can change depending on how it's served, making it especially useful in pastry dishes and stews.
Taste Profile
So what’s the gin actually like? As expected, it is very unusual. Sour cherry, chocolate orange, vanilla, and liquorice are all present in abundance, coming from the clever addition of Tonka beans and clementine.
Serving Suggestion
Tarquin suggests serving this gin with a fresh clementine garnish in a long G&T. It has all the hallmarks of a Christmas classic, and these ten batches are expected to disappear very quickly!
