  • Glen Elgin 1996 Connoisseurs Choice 46% 70cl
Glen Elgin Distillery was the last distillery to be built during the boom years of the 1890s. The architect, Charles Doig, stated it would be the last one built in Speyside for 50 years. His prediction was remarkably accurate with Tormore being the next distillery built, in 1958. Until the 1950s the distillery was entirely operated and lit by paraffin. All machinery was driven by a paraffin engine and a water turbine. It was a full time job to keep the paraffin lights burning. Today, the distillery still proudly depicts the White Horse emblem and is part of Diageos Elgin Group, along with Linkwood, Glenlossie and Mannochmore.
The whisky is still a key component of White Horse blended whisky.

This 1996 bottling was matured in a refill sherry cask and has notes of sherry and fruits on the nose. The palate is rich with delicate spice and wood notes. The finish is smooth, long and dry.

  • Glen Elgin 1995 Scotts Selection 57.1% 70cl
Glen Elgin distillery lies about 10 miles south of where the river Lossie exits to the sea. This distillery was set up just before 1900 and was the last distillery in Speyside for 60 years until Tormore was built. The style of the whisky is typical Speyside, soft smooth with a mellow honeyd flavour.
Soft spring water comes from the area of Millbuies Loch to the south-east of the distiller.
