    Established in 1781 in the Northern Rhone Valley, Vidal-Fleury is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Rhone Valley. Today Vidal-Fleury vinify and age wines from the Rhone's renowned appelations, focusing on the choicest terroirs, allowing ample time to age and mature the wines.

    Full, bright dark red in appearance. Aromatic, Syrah dominating, violet, blackberry, spice (cumin), toasty. On the palate pepper, black fruit, clean start. Good late punch and chewiness.
  • Alasia Brachetto d'Acqui Alasia 5.5% 75cl
    Vibrant ruby in colour, this shows aromas of raspberry sorbet with rose perfumed hints. Appealing off-dry palate with crunchy raspberry fruit, mouthwatering acidity and a juicy finish. Producer Details Araldica is Piemonte's largest and most progressive co-operative yet retains a small, family run company feel, thanks to the inspired guidance of winemaker/manager Claudio Manera (whose father Livio was the co-op's first winemaker in the fifties) and his wife Lella, also a winemaker and in charge of Quality Control. 80% of production is bottled (an extraordinarily high percentage for a large co-operative) at the company's headquarters in the Monferrato hills, home of the old cellars and a new winery, operating since September 2000. This is complimented by two estates, each with it's own vinification cellars, La Battistina in Gavi (where Araldica is the region's largest vineyard owner) and Il Cascinone. Claudio believes that effective management can preserve that most important concern for the customer - value for money: "Our intention has never been to follow an idle dream of making a great wine that is then impossible to find or difficult to afford. Our broader ambition has been to provide a range that is both understandable and accessible. Quite simply, wine for drinking and enjoying."

    One of Portugal's largest and most progressive producers with 600 hectares spread across estates in five regions from Douro in the north to Alentejo in the south. Winemaker Francisco Antunes oversees what must be one of the most diverse ranges in Europe, from the 3rd largest Portuguese rose brand (Casal Mendes) to some of the country's most impressive premium reds (with help from Michel Rolland and Pascal Chatonnet) from estates in Douro, Dao, Bairrada and Alentejo. Arguably, Francisco's greatest achievements lie between these extremes, a range of mid-priced wines from native varieties, full of character, quite distinctly Portuguese, but at the same time approachable and with fresh, modern fruit.

  • Quinta do Coa Tinto 2008 (Organic) 13.5% 75cl
    The heat and sub-Saharan nature of the Coa Valley and Douro Superior in general would easily lead one to expect the reds from Quinta do Coa to be huge fruit bombs, but this is rarely the case. Very finely grained fruit and wood tannins provide the structure for a lovely purity of fruit character mulberries and cherries, and good length.

    This collection of dramatic vineyards (115 Hectares) and olive groves (300 Hectares), established by Celso Madeira over the past 50 years, take us to a part of the Douro region that has been until recently the preserve of a few but committed and gritty farmers.

    This is extreme climate and terrain with expansive scenery.Where there is Schist and some rainfall (450mm) things grow though and the Madeira family does it all according to organic principles. Celso has passed the baton to his two sons, Rui (Winemaking) and Filipe (Marketing), who at their state-of- the- art winery, are making some pure fruited, expressive and cultured wines to charm us with.

    From their first estate Quinta do Ca comes a Tinto full of ripe black fruits, and warm spice, topped only by the concentrated and compact Reserva Tinto.
  • Barolo Bussia Dardi le Rose 2011 Poderi Colla 13.5% 75cl
    Founded in 1993 by Tino and Federica Colla, brother and daughter of the legendry Beppe Colla. Beppe was not only the passion behind the Prunotto name but a leading public figure in the development of the Alba DOCs in the 60s. The wines come from three outstanding sites in Alba and cover nearly the entire spectrum of Albese styles. The Colla family truly make wine in the vineyard, with a non-interventionist approach to wine making, enabling each wine a unique expression of site and vintage. Cascine Drago, the site of the winery and museum, has twelve hectares under vine, from which the densely planted Dolcetto and Nebbiolo form the incredibly complex and structured Bricco del Drago. Tenuta Roncaglie, one of the bset historical Barbaresco crus, produces a classic and elegant Nebbiolo, and fine Barbera. Tenuta Dardi Le Rose from the Bussia hillside of Barolo's Monforte dAlba district, is Nebbiolo at its best, rich and complex with fascinating perfumes and textures.

    Typical Nebbiolo burnt sunset colour. Meaty yet floral nose - almost like a piece of beef wrapped in rose petals. Generous late summer fruit flavours with good tannic structure and a level of acidity which means that, whilst drinking now, this wine will ageand improve for many years.

    In this instance the blend consists of 34% Sangiovese, 20% Pinot noir, 31% Shiraz, 13% Nebbiolo, 2% Mourvedre and 5% Barbera. The excitement of Hannibal is about the different grape varieties and their resulting taste colours.

    Concentrated, dark and fruity with whiffs of oak and wood on the nose. Velvety tannins offering a sumptuous slow-pronounced finish, indicates plenty of promise for those who are prepared to wait.

    Rich and robust with smoky wood and fire side aromas which mingle with red berries and spiced vanilla on the nose. The palate is dry and finely structured with a very typically Italian sweet and sour twist leading to brambles on the finish.

    Cavit is a modern and forward-thinking co-operative group in the mountainous Trentino region of northeast Italy whose 11 cellars are responsible for a massive 65% of the region's wine production. The endless permutations offered from their members' 7,000 hectares of vineyard, combined with an intriguing palette of indigenous and international grape varieties, enable Cavit to offer a broad range which excels at every level. The scale of production, combined with ultra-modern winemaking facilities, understandably makes Cavit one of Italy's most reliable sources of well-made, competitively priced wines, in particular Pinot Grigio. However, with wines such as Arele Vino Santo, Graal Metodo Classico (awarded 'Tre Bicchieri' for the 7th time and voted Gambero Rosso's Sparkling Wine of the Year in 2010) and the outstanding Maso Cervara Teroldego, chief winemaker Anselmo Martini is producing wines which rival the best of the Trentino region.

    Produced from fruit grown in the Valle del Sarca, on loose stony-limestone soils caressed by the warm wind coming from Lake Garda. The Lagrein grape is indigenous to Italy. It prefers warm, sheltered areas and produces wine of noteworthy concentration and complexity.

    In the Winery
    'Dunkel' is traditionally vinified as red wine at 28-29 degrees C with long maceration on the skins in small stainless steel tanks. It is then moved to barriques for 12-14 months and subsequently matured in small oak barrels for a further 6 months.

    Wine produced from a rigorous selection of Manto Negro, Callet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes from the best vineyards of the Binissalem-Mallorca D.O. Controlled fermentation and subsequent maturing in barrels of French and American oak as well bottle fermentation until the wine has matured for 24 months. Its colour is an intense cherry red with reflections of violet. Harmonious mix between fruity aromas, forest berries, blackberries and complex hints remain from its maturation in the barrel, balsamic aromas, spices, smoky flavours.     Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha, is the most daring creation of the new phase of the winery. It is the result of new technologies that have been applied but without disregarding the wise tradition of wine making in the region. It has a dark ruby colour with shades of purple. At the nose there is a rich aroma of ripe berries with hints of floral tones typical of the Garnacha, a unique variety. In the mouth, it is a full bodied rich wine with a taste of blackberries, strawberries and hints of leather, vanilla and plums. It is perfectly combined with a sweet and pleasant tannin that leads to a long, balanced and smooth finish.

    Intense garnet purple colour. Classic Barbera aromatics of salami skin with a hint of cloves and mint lead to a sumptious and crunchy palate of bitter cherries, leather and herbs. Silky tannins and reassuring acidity complete the picture.

    Producer Details
    This exceptional estate in the Monferrato hills was bought by Araldica in 1999. After 15 years of replanting, 70 hectares of the 102 have now been reclaimed and are in full production. The warmer, southwest facing slopes are used to grow Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet while those facing northeast give fresher growing conditions, ideal for aromatic varietals such as Brachetto and Moscato as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The 'Il Cascinone' range is produced with grapes sourced from Araldicas most prized vineyards, both on the estate itself and from other selected sites. The cellars were completely refurbished in time for the 2005 vintage.

  • Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2012 75cl
    Cloudy Bay first made pinot in 1989 and the winemaking team has been obsessed with the variety ever since. This year the second crop was harvested from the 'Barracks Vineyard', an elevated site in the Omaka Valley dedicated almost entirely to pinot. In the winery, the purpose-built pinot cellar allows the winemakers to handle as many as 40 unique parcels of wine from 25 different sites with the utmost precision and care. These are carefully blended to create a true expression of the variety, the vintage, and 'our place'.

    The name of the rare MandraRossa wines derive from a viticultural district overlooking the seaside of Menfi in Sicily. These wines are suitable for consumers who are attentive and sensible towards the balance between the wine, the culture and the traditions of the producing area. Since the Greek times, the cultivation of the grapevines has passed on over the years on the Sicilian coast overlooking the Mediterranean sea and run through the sunny hills between the Temples of Agrigento and Selinunte. Many aspects have contributed to the vineyards of MandraRossa, such as: the mild climate, the productivity of the land and the worker's care. The Settesoli winery operates on 6,500 hectares of vineyards, but over the years, it has selected 600 hectares as the most productive.     This long established Veronese family company, headed by Giorgio Montresor, is producing wines which increasingly rival the offerings of the region's more fashionable names. The estate wines, from 100 ha of vineyards in Valpolicella and Garda, offer remarkable value for money, particularly the Capitel della Crosara vineyard near Negrar which produces fine, richly-flavoured Ripasso and a generous, classically-styled Amarone with great concentration and texture.

  • Torres Mas la Plana 2010/11 14.5% 75cl
    It is more than three decades since this mysterious Spanish wine was born. The label: Black. The bottle: Burgundy style. The variety: Cabernet Sauvignon. Few had much faith in this project. Certainly, nobody back in 1979, could have dreamed that it would triumph in a Parisian blind tasting against some of the world's most famous wines. Yet it marked the start of a new era in wine making: a time in which to stop dreaming and embark on a new journey, year after year, harvest after harvest.

    In this small (29 ha.) vineyard only the most select Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown. These are used to make strictly limited quantities of Torres most prestigious red wine, now known to connoisseurs all over the world. In the Paris Wine Olympiad, the 1970 vintage triumphed over some of the most famouswines in the world, including Chateau Latour. This success has been repeated on several other occasions, with Gran Coronas Mas La Plana notching up numerous other international awards.

    Intense aroma showing all the classic characteristics of the native land of Mas La Plana, together with notes of truffle, toast and wild red berry conserve. Great body and breadth on the palate, with juicy tannins that become balanced and elegant.

    2001 13.5% Winter chill quickly gave way to warmer weather with little rain, and aridity reduced yields by 15%. July and August were far hotter than usual and picking began very early on September 3rd. Tannin and acidity levels were low; thick-skinned Cabernet grapes fared best in the heat and dominate the blend.     Situated in one of the northernmost vineyard regions in Chile, approaching the edge of the Atacama Desert, Tabal commands a unique location in the heart of the Limar Valley. The local Camanchaca fog blankets the Limar area each morning, and afternoon coastal breezes bring cool air which moderates the ripening of the grapes. The result is a range of truly distinctive wines with elegance, restraint and minerality. The dynamic young team lead by Felipe Muller (winemaker) and Hector Rojas (viticulturalist) have already scooped a cabinet full of the wine worlds most prestigious trophies. Tabali Chardonnay is widely regarded as one of Chiles finest but we would also single out their Shiraz (IWC Gold and 2 Decanter trophys in 2007) as one of the emerging stars from this new region, with its fine structure and peppery black olive fruit profile. Tabal has the honour of stewardship of the Limar Valleys most significant archaeological sites, the mystical Valle del Encanto (Enchanted Valley) which borders their vineyards. A sacred site of the ancient Molle and Diaguita culture, the many rock drawings and carved Tacita stones depict an ancient way of life. The Tabal mask logo has been taken from one of these rock carvings, which can only be seen at certain times of day when the suns alignment makes them magically appear.
    In the Vineyard
    The vines are planted in the oldest alluvial terrace of the Limar river, the soil profile is a mix a gravels of different sizes, clay and sand with high concentrations of active calcium carbonates (limestone) and different type of salts, due to the very little amount of rainfall per year (70 100 mm) in the area. This geological condition makes this place unique in Chile in terms of the soil formation and composition.

    In the Winery
    The fruit was handpicked in the third week of March, at its optimal aromatic and phenolic maturity. Cold maceration then took place over a period of 3 days, followed by fermentation in small stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. A further maceration took place for 5 days and finally the wine was aged in French oak for 9 months

    The wines of Via Cobos are the result of a shared dream inspired by the passion of an American winemaker and two partners from a wine-producing culture deeply rooted in European traditions. Their founding aspiration: to produce a malbec of power and elegance unequalled anywhere in the world. The inaugural 1999 vintage of Cobos Malbec received the highest score upon release for any Argentine wine. Since then, Paul and partners have grown their family of wines, which continue to receive even greater accolades. Cobos, Bramare and Felino offer three tiers of exceptional chardonnay, merlot, malbec and cabernet sauvignon sourced from Marchiori Vineyard and other select properties within Mendoza.

    Dense garnet color accompanies an earthy nose, rich with aromas of cassis, mocha and lavender. The palate is

  • Cobos Bramare Malbec 2014 Lujan de Cuyo 75cl
    Lujan de Cuyo is known historically as the prime zone for wine-growing in Mendoza. Its high altitude location at around 2,500 feet, in combination with a semi-desert climate and low-nutrient stony soils provide ideal conditions for cultivation of high quality fruit.

    Inky, dense violet in color, this Malbec offers a fine balance of poise and power. The nose brims with raspberries, anise, cherries and black pepper notes while in the mouth, the full-bodied impression carries flavors of cassis, red licorice, figs and hints of smoke. A long finish leaves the mouth enveloped in big, chewy tannins.

    :94 pts. It offers up an alluring nose of cedar, tobacco, spice box, cola, and black cherry. This is followed by a full-bodied, layered smooth-textured wine with gobs of fruit already revealing considerable complexity. The wine has superb depth, concentration and length. It can be enjoyed now but should easily last for another decade.

    This is the second wine of Chateau Talbot the Fouth Growth in Saint Julien. Connetable Talbot is made from the younger vines or wines not quiet upto going into the first label, but offers remarkable value and was one of the first chateau's to offer a second wine back min the sixties.
  • Morgon Le cru Aux Roches pourries 13% 75cl
    Roche Pourrie' refers to the crumbled, flaky rock rich in iron oxide and manganese which imparts a red ochre colour to the soil of te prized vineyard of Cte du Py. Here 55 year old Gamay grapes are harvested by hand and only the best clusters of grapes are selected for the wine.

    Ripe cherries and plums on the nose give some indication to how fruit-rich the palate of this Morgon is. Fruit and spice flavours are velvety to the finish, with a lovely touch of crisp acidity.

    Tre is the entry level or stepping stone into the Bran Caia Estate in Tuscany. Made from three grape varieties (tre) Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon it is elegant and accessible.
  • Ciconia Touriga Nacional 2014 Alentejano 13.5% 75cl
    Touriga Nacional aged for 4 months in French and American oak to produe a deep coloured red, with aromas of wood fruits, truffles and chocolate and vanilla notes. The palate is rich, rounded and well balanced with black fruits and spice, good structure and smooth tannins.
  • Sancerre Rouge 2013 Hubert Brochard 13% 75cl
    Sancerre Rouge from Hubert Brochard uses graped sourced from vineyards on the deep and specific soil for the Pinot noir grape variety; in the
    villages of Chavignol, Amigny, Saint-Satur, SainteGemme, Mntrol, Thauvenay and Sancerre. The average age of the vines are 30 years old.

    ORIENTATION: South, South-east.

    CONSERVATION: The Sancerre Rouge is a wine for laying down for 8 years. It is full-bodied, slightly tannic and it is best enjoyed at cellar temperature.
    SERVE WITH: It goes superbly with cooked meat,
    poultry, red meat and all kinds of cheese.
  • Warwick Estate Cabernet Franc 14.5% 75cl
    Winemakers comments: The wine has a deep and intense garnet colour. The nose shows ripe cassis and smoky flavours that are complexed by aromas of almond and chocolate. The palate is full round with ripe chewy tannins and flavours like coffee, cherry, cigar box and liquorice. The balanced acid creates a firm finish that is complemented by luscious and lingering sweetness. Although accessible now this wine will improve with up to 10 years.

    The grapes were picked at 25,6 balling and innoculated with a local yeast as soon as they entered the cellar. Fermentation at 28C and the wine fermented dry on the skins. After pressing the wine was transferred to French Oak barrels, here it under went malolactic fermentation. After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked and further aged in barrels fro 24 months. This wine received 70% new oak. Before bottling the wine was lightly fined and filtered.

    Warwick Estate is a family-owned and run winery. Managing Director Michael Ratcliffe is the 3rd generation family member to oversee this high quality boutique operation that has been lauded globally for excellence and consistency. Mike is passionately involved in many aspects of the South African and global wine industry and has held senior leadership positions in industry bodies. From 1771 til 1902, Warwick Wine Farm was known as the farm De Goede Sukses. After the Anglo Boer war in 1902, Colonel William Alexander Gordon, Commanding Officer of the Warwickshire regiment decided against returning to England and bought the farm. He renamed it Warwick as a tribute to his regiment and the rest, as they say, is history. Warwick was purchased on April 1st 1964 by Stan Ratcliffe after an extensive search for the best terroir in the Cape. Together with his new bride Norma , they soon realized the potential of the extraordinary property and began planting Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines produced high quality grapes, which were soon in demand from neighbouring wineries. Norma became more and more interested in the making of wine and began to study the subject. Soon a cellar was in place and in 1984 the first legal Warwick vintage was released (a Cabernet Sauvignon). It seemed Norma had the talent for making great wines and production soon increased. In 1986 Warwick Trilogy was releases, a Bordeaux style blend which has since became one of the flagships of the South African Wine Industry.
  • Nemea Dry Red 2009 Boutari 12.5% 75cl
    Deep ruby colour and intense aroma of red fruits, berry, cherry, new oak barrel and sweet ageing aroma. The palate has a wonderful velvet texture, very good structure, is round and full with flavours of chocolate, honey and dried nuts. Long aftertaste. Served at 16-18oC it pairs well with red meat dishes and sweet sauces.

    Made from the noblest of Greek grapes, Agiorgitiko which undergoes traditional fermentation for about 10 days at between 28-30C with skin contact prior to this for 4-6 days. Maturation in large 500 litre French oak barrels for 12 months and a further 4 months in bottle before release
