Description
This Douro Reserve red was aged for 12 months in very special barrels previously used to mature Vintage Port. The result is a smoother, rounder and more luxurious wine. An elegant and deep flavoured wine with black fruits, refined spice notes and a long, velvety finish.
In 1815, German trader Dietrich Matthias Feuerheerd established the eponymous company in Oporto. There, he meticulously selected and patiently aged the finest Port wine blends before exporting them to Northern Europe. The brand achieved renown for its vintage Ports, which became affectionately known as 'Anchor Ports' in England, a nod to the distinctive logo adorning the bottle. In 2010, the brand was acquired by Barão de Vilar, forging a new partnership between the Van Zellers and the Barros families, both with deep-rooted histories in the wine trade spanning centuries. Driven by a shared commitment to revive Feuerheerd's legacy of quality, the families embarked on a mission to produce exceptional Ports. Today, the esteemed Álvaro van Zeller, head winemaker at the estate, oversees the crafting of these exquisite aged Ports, ensuring they embody the highest standards of excellence.
