Each release of Fettercairn 16 year old single malt will showcase a maturation journey that enhances the tropical distillery character derived from the copper cooling ring distillation process. This release has been distilled with chocolate malted barley and matured in first fill American ex-bourbon casks, before being enhance in selected sherry and port casks by the head distiller. Chocolate malted barley is heavily kilned, rising to a temperature of 210 degrees over two hours which creates a rich flavour and dark roasted colour.
Aromas of vanilla and ginger, with sun-kissed raisins. The palate is succulent peaches, ginger and caramel gives way to banana notes. Chocolate and demerara sugar nuances give a perfect finish.
