A very approachable style of Valpolicella Ripasso for a great price! This bottle is packed with notes of bright cherry fruit and a hint of oak. The nose is intense with aromas of plums and bramble fruit. The palalte is complex as you would expect with ripe dark fruits a good mix of spice and a good amount of supple tannins.
These traditional grape varieties are destemmed and pressed, then fermented in barrel at around 20ºC for 2 weeks - malolactic fermentation also takes place. It spends around 16 months in 100% Slavonian oak. 'Ripasso' means 'repassed' - and refers to the production process whereby fermented Valpolicella is added to a cask containing the skins and lees remaining from fermented Amarone wines. This gives extra colour, texture and flavour to the Valpolicella.
