This Carmenere shows a surprising level of balance between honest aromas of fresh raspberries and cherries with subtle hints of green pepper and a fine granitic minerality. It has a marked mid palate, evident in the upper extreme, with notes of dark chocolate intermingled with sweet berries. With refined, smooth tannins, this wine retains its freshness thanks to its vibrant acidity. A wonder long finish for this outstanding wine.
The grapes come from a specially chosen vineyard in Peumo, on the Western side of the Cachapoal Valley, an area known for producing the best Carmenere wines in Chile. The Peumo area in particular enjoys a climate that is quote apt for Carmenere. Its latitude ensures high temperatures throughout much of the grape ripening period, but its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, 58 km , and the gentle breezes that blow in from the Cachapoal river on summer afternoons enable the grapes to better conserve their acidity, resulting in a wine with fresher flavours and aromas.
