Yes, i am over 18 | No, i am under 18 | |
This 18 year old double malt rye has been made with; rye - which adds bold peppery spice. Malted rye - which adds soft, floral and an earthy character. Malted barley - this adds rich, sweet and toasted notes.
On the nose this is sweet and aromatic, with toasted oak, berries and nutmeg. The palate is elegant and spicy, mildly fruity and pleasantly floral. Vanilla and oak notes appear with time. The finish is wonderfully long, clean and spicy at the very end.
After converting an abandoned dairy into a world class distillery the only thing to do next was welcome in their neighbours. While they pursue new ways to unlock the potential of aged rye whiskey, AO Glass is reinvigorating the age old art of glass making just up the road from them. Enclosed with the 18 year old is a Vermont glass stopper that has been hand pressed on one of the last remaining 19th century glass pressing machines, rescued from a historic factory installed at AO's Burlington glass studio the same week the second still was installed at WhistlePig Farm - it seemed a fitting fit to marry one another in this presentation.
Made with 79% Rye, 15% Malted Rye and 6% Malted Barley
