The 2009 vintage is a corker, this was considered one of their exceptional years. The wine also has exceptional ageing potential but if you are impatient then please decant and let it breath for at least an hour to enjoy its full quality.
Le Clos du Marquis, created in 1902, finds its origin in the Petit Clos adjoining the Chateau de Leoville, home of the Marquis de Las Cases. Clos du Marquis comes from the great terroirs of the Saint-Julien appellation which were not part of the cadastre of the former Domaine de Leoville. These terroirs are located slightly further to the west and are surrounded by prestigious Crus Classes, in particular Seconds Crus from the Saint-Julien and Pauillac appellations.
95/100 James Suckling
Rich yet firmly structured this is a very classic St.-Julien that's generous and polished with so much energy driving the long plush finish. Delicious now, but should hold for many years.
