This Carmenere is made from vines which were planted in the 1950s. The Mediterranean climate gives excellent balance to the grapes which are low yielding and very concentrated giving superb balance and flavour. Hand harvesting in small 20kg crates prevents the grapes from damage. After a 15 day skin contact the wine is aged in French barrels for 18 months.
Tasting notes Deep red colour with violet hues. Very intense and complex nose, with notes of parma violet ,cloves and plenty of black currant fruit and a hint of chocolate. The wine is full bodied with smooth tannins and great acidity that perfectly balances with the ripe fruit and spiced French oak. The ?nish is long and immensely characterful.
Food match Great with hearty stews and grilled red meats or a warm and crispy empanada.
