Description
A crisp and refreshing white wine from Portugal made from a blend of indigenous grapes grown at altitude in the high reaches of the Douro ('Planalto' translates as “high plains”) to retain freshness and delicacy, This is a deliciously vibrant wine boasting ripe citrus and floral aromas.
The blend is made from 20% Malvasia Fina , 20% Viosinho, 15% Arinto/Pedernã, 15% Códega , 15% Gouveio (Verdelho), 10% Rabigato and 5% Moscatel.
Producer: Casa Ferreirinha, founded in 1952, is named after the legendary Porto matriarch Dona Antónia Ferreira. She was affectionately nicknamed 'Ferreirinha' by her countrymen, and Casa Ferreirinha, the first producer in the region dedicated to making light wines, pays homage to her memory. Purchased by Sogrape in 1987, it has 520 hectares of vineyard in all three of the Douro sub-regions: Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. The winemaking is headed up by Luís Sottomayor, who restrains the Douro’s natural exuberance to produce wines that have a vibrant freshness allied to a lovely depth and texture.
