This wine is particularly aimed at “wine buffs”, enthusiasts who are already partial wine connoisseurs and who want to explore further afield to take an interest in single-parcel cuvees, in forgotten grapes or in other curiosities. But, PN is above all a cuvee for enthusiasts to discover together, looking for simplicity and a shared experience. The target audience generally pay special attention to the way products are made and are sensitive to the concept of transparency.
The concept is based on the taste of Pinot Noir by Champagne Bollinger. Each year, an organoleptic profile of the specific grape is showcased according to a vintage and a specific terroir/cru, then highlighted and combined with different reserve wines.
Pinot Noir from Verzenay brings a certain depth; it brings an elegance as well as a tension, and finishes with a hint of salt reminiscent of its chalky terroirs. The PN VZ15 edition is therefore characterised by elegance and crispness. “VZ” stands for Verzenay, which is the main cru of this first edition in the range (alongside other crus such as Ay, Bouzy and Tauxieres). “15” stands for 2015, the cuvee’s “base” year, as this is the most recent and predominant year in the blend.
