This is a wonderfully peated single malt from Glen Scotia and has been matured in a mixture of American oak hogsheads, medium char American oak barrels and first fill bourbon barrels. The result delivers a well balanced peat smoke profile with fruit and warming spices demonstrating the power and finesse of the Glen Scotia distillery.
These casks are then vatted together and finished in Tawny Port, for 6 months, bringing notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and raspberry that compliments the peat smoke and the distilleries signature character.
Tawny Port? This is fortified wine that has been barrel aged for an average of 20 years in barrel, developing a rich amber colour and is generally sweeter than younger ruby ports.
