The Edge of Burnhead Wood is the fourth release in the distilleries 'Stories' range. Made from 100% Blavenie's Dufftown estate grown barley, water and some fresh heather.
One bright morning back in May in the year 2000, Dave Stewart (then Estate Manager at The Balvenie, and not to be confused with their Malt Master David C Stewart) got up unfashinably early and headed out to the Conval Hills that surround the distillery. Up past the Robbie Dhu spring (this is where the water was drawn from) and towards the edge of Burnhead Wood.
The nose is treated to notes of honey, roasted barley and citrus blossom. The palate is classic dried fruits like sultanas with warm oak and heather honey. The finish is light, fresh vanilla and floral notes of blossom and a hint of ginger.
