The offering of Petite Sirah from McManis Family Vineyards is almost black in colour but with a vibrant and youthful hue. The nose has an abundance of ripe black fruits, predominantly blackberry and boysenberry. Oak aging has contributed a pleasing melange of rich creamy caramel and maple syrup scents, with just a barely perceptible waft of smoke. The dense viscous liquid delivers all of the flavours one would expect from the aromatics. Savoury and luscious with a pleasantly persistent finish. This wine has been oaked with 100% French staves.
Back in 1990 Ron and his wife Jamie, bought their first vineyard and in 1995 McManis Family Vineyards was formed with the purpose-built winery arriving by the end of the Millennium. Now the McManis family own over 2,600 acres between the Ripon area and Lodi in California’s northern interior region!
Food Pairing:
Matches very well with a medium-rare beef burger topped with blue cheese or vegetable ratatouille.
