From the yearly release from Diageo is this Special Release range. This Lagavilin 12 year old single malt has been selected for its high peating level, this unique and small batch has been matured in traditional refill American oak casks and the result is a perfect expression to sum up the distillery -rounded yet proudly undimmed by time.

Lagavulin is an iconic Islay malt, its intense and smoky spirit is steeped in history for over 200 years. Nestled amongst the rocky bay that is still dominated by a ruined castle that was once home to the Lords of the Isles.

The texture is smooth, the palate is sweet, intense and very smoky with light acidity and a sprinkle of sea-salt. The finish is long, lightly drying and smoky.
