The grapes are hand harvested from vines that have an average of 50 years age on them. It has then been aged in French oak barrels for between 10 and 12 months. We get aromas of mango, peach and blossom. on the palate it is has a great expression of tropical and spicy notes against a blossom and honey drizzled pear background.
This 150-year old property was purchased in 1993 by the previous part-owner of Ch Suduiraut, Philippe Mercadier, from Jacqueline Tuyttens-Laville. Philippe’s main vineyard interests are in the Languedoc, but he could not get Sauternes from under his skin, and, when this excellent little property came up for sale, he grabbed it. The estate is in the commune of Fargues, just to the East of Rieussec and to the North of Ch de Fargues, on the gentle lower slope that stretches from the Langon-Sauternes road to the woods by Ch de Malle.
