Morven is the lightly peated offering from Wolfburn. It has taken its name from the highest point in Caithness, where all around lies open moorland and peat that dates back 10,000 years!
Morven is made from malted barley that is infused with smoke during the drying process. It is a reflection on history, when back in the 19th Century the original distillery was largely fired by peat. Gentle distillation is followed by maturation in their purpose made warehouses.
On the nose it starts with light smoke with hints of fruit, fresh sea air and vanilla amongst some wood shavings. On the palate it is packed with floral notes followed by raisins and light spices. Malty offerings open up on the palate with soft honey sweetness at the finish.
