Jefferson's experience in finishing made them feel strongly that the sweetness of Chateau Suduiraut wine and the toast staves of the French oak wine casks would complement their well aged, complex Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey. They are not disappointed and neither will you be.
After hand selecting 40 Suduiraut barrels, refilling them with Jefferson's Reserve bourbon and then extra aging them in their proprietary 'hot box' environment they have created one of a kind bourbons. The finished product combines the sweetness of Sauternes, the wood notes of both American and French oak, the grain of a premium bourbon in a delicious, complex and balanced final bourbon.
Thomas Jefferson, the Americans third president was a wine aficionado. He was America's first ambassador to France and while there, fell in love with the finest wines of Bordeaux. Once of his favourites, listed on a 1787 inventory manifest, is Chateau Suduiraut which he called 'President du Roy' an exceptional Sauternes.
