Description
A purple red colour that develops to a garnet with age. On the nose the bouquet is complex and intense with hints of blackberry jam. On the palate the wine is velvety and harmonious with pleasant and firm tannins.
Molise is located in the Southern area of Central Italy. Only 2% of its production is graded as DOC. Hillside vineyards with excellent exposure, morainic and calcareous soils together with the combination of continental climate provide great conditions for the terroir. The vines are 15 to 25 years old and trained in the Sylvoz and Spur Cordon fashion, with 2800 to 3000 vines planted per hectare, yields are around 110 hl/ha. Grapes are hand and machine harvested in late September. This wine spends 18 months in large oak barrels and for a further 18 months in stainless steel tanks.
Food Pairing: The wine goes great with roast meats, game, pheasant or salami. Serve at room temperature.
