The historic Quinta do Ataide with its 18th Century manor house, occupies more than 100 hectares of unusually flat land in the Vilarica Valley amongs ancient olive groves and vineyards which dates back to the very earliest days of agriculture in this region.
This fine organic Douro wine is produced from traditional grape varieties grown sustainably in the certified vineyards of Quinta do Ataide. Rested for 8 months in French oak barrels.
Attractive aromas of ripe red fruits, scented with red plum and thyme. On the palate this wine is spicy and savoury with good weighty flavours balanced with pepper tannins and good acidity.
This red is ready for immediate consumption although the winemaker has said that it has the potential to coninue developing favourably in the bottle until 2020.
