Kaiyo Whisky is matured in very expensive Japanese Mizunara oak casks, with each cask having to be hand made due to the delicate nature of the wood grain. These are among the rarest casks in the world and are considered to be excellent for maturing whisky in.
The majority of this malt whisky comes from one distillery but there is a small amount added from one other, meaning that this is technically a blend as opposed to a single malt. Regardless of that, this is a delicious offering with a delicate floral nose with ripe fruits, vanilla and spice. The palate is silky smooth with a long finish with honey notes.
