Wolfburn distillery was first established in 1821 and was a large producer until it closed in 1851. Reopened in 2011, this Wolfburn single malt is the distillery's first release and hopefully one of many more to come. It is the northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland and is located in Caithness on the coast.
The whisky is made in the old fashioned way; unhurried and by hand, meaning that the spirit enjoys a long fermentation followed by a gentle distillation before being aged in the highest quality Oak casks. It is this process that lends Wolfburn its smooth and warming flavour.
On the nose you will find fruit and malty aromas with just a small hint of peat. The palate delivers sweet, nutty flavours with a pleasant coating of smoke coating the mouth.
