A new classification for Chianti classico wines 'Gran Selezione' is given to the very best wines. Sourced from San Felice best and oldest vineyards. It is made from 80% Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Pugnitello aged in Slovenian and French oak for 24 months with another 8 months in bottle before release. Enchanting aromas of violets, cassis, tobacco and licquorice. Full-bodied and velvety smooth - the ripe plum and black fruit characters are enhanced by fine tannins, beautifully balanced acidity and a touch of spice. Should improve with cellaring of perhaps 10 to 15 years.
