Auriverdes is the name of this years Ardbeg day release. Named in the year of the Football World Cup in Brazil, Auri (gold) is the colour of the whisky and Verdes (green) for the distinctive green packaging of this Islay Malt. This special edition has had some special barrel aging, matured in American oak with the cask lids being toasted to add a spicy dimension to this peaty dram. The nose is typical Ardbeg, with herbal notes and hints of mocha. The palate has a mix of smoke, coffee, and smoked bacon. A lingering smoky finish with a pronounced vanilla note from the toasted barrels lids.
