Taittinger 2004 Vintage Ice Bucket 12% 75cl

Taittinger Brut Millsim 2004 is a blend of grapes exclusively from the first pressing. It consists of 50% Chardonnay from the Grands
Crus of the Cte des Blancs and 50% Pinot Noir from the Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims and the start of the Valle de la
Despite its unremarkable weather conditions, 2004 is an exuberant vintage. Although the winter was chilly, there was no period of intense cold. The very pleasant spring had low rainfall. The flowering period was long and began in mid-June, when the weather was cool. The summer was cool
also, with weak sunshine, and was dry until mid August when a beneficial period of rain began. The return of the sun and heat at the beginning of September favoured ripening. The grape harvest, which began with the Chardonnays on September 20th, proved to be one of the most abundant in Champagnes history. It was very sound and of excellent quality. The Chardonnays are of remarkable quality: balanced, complex, long, fresh and
invigorating. The Pinot Noirs are elegant and structured.
Taittinger produces a vintage champagne only when the harvest has been of exceptional quality. The precious wine is then marketed
only after several years of cellar ageing, allowing the aromas to mature slowly and the length and complexity of the wine to develop.
Winemakers Comments
Taittinger Brut Millsim 2004 has a pale and radiant yellow colour. The generous effervescence gives off an abundance of bubbles
rising to form a necklace. The first impression on the nose combines flintiness with yeasty bread aromas. This quickly gives way to a fine,
intense, sweet fruitiness, as crystallized fruit scents of lemon and mandarin and a flowery touch of acacia honey emerge. On the palate,
the fruity attack is sublimely fresh and rich. The mid-palate is balanced, structured and smooth, releasing flavours of sugared pink
grapefruit. The exceptional intensity of the finish is long, generous and complex.
Although still young, Taittinger Brut Millsim 2004 already possesses a remarkable balance between delicacy, elegance and finesse Its
immeasurable freshness suggests excellent ageing potential. This wine, ideal as an aperitif, is also a good match to light, elegant dishes such as fish or chicken in delicate sauces
