Description
The nose shows high jasmine tea notes and white roses with a touch of lychee. On the palate there are bright floral and mineral nuances with a lingeringly spicy and exotic finish.
Producer Details With prime vineyards in Casablanca, Maipo, Rapel and Bio-Bio and access to the newest and best clones in Chile (through Jose Guilisasti, brother of Emilianas General Manager Rafael who runs Chiles foremost nursery) Emiliana is a very substantial and impressive organisation. As South Americas largest organic producer, with 250 hectares of IMO and Demeter certified vineyards and a further 250 hectares in conversion, their spectacular vineyard and winery at Los Robles has the added benefit of being biodynamic and features the sensory delights of roaming Alpacas, dung heaps and dynamised biodynamic mixtures to treat the vineyards.
In the Vineyard The Rapel Valley lies with the Pacific Ocean to the West, to the east the Andes Mountains, and to the south the province of Colchagua. The climatic characteristics of this valley include frost-free springs and warm summers that allow the grapes to ripen well.
In the Winery The grapes were hand-picked and carried in bins starting the last week of April, when they reached the desired ripening.
Press Quotes 2009 Vintage, Sommelier Wine Awards 2010, Judges comments: "Lighter floral notes with a touch of perfume mix neatly with rose petal, lychee and green fruits. There's a tropical acidity here, too, that would make this a good match for scallops."
