Description
Domaine de la Combe 12% is based in St Fiacre, southeast of Nantes, at the mouth of the beautiful River Loire and was established by Nelly Marzelleau's grandfather in the 1950's. Due to the high proportion of flint in the soil, Dt Diacre is considered one of the best sites for Muscadet Sevre et Maine. Pierre-Henri Gadais has taken over the family estate and is in the prcoess of converting to organic production. The winery is in the best sub-region between the rivers Sevre and Maine, where the soils are layered with 'orthogneiss', a cracked mineral rich rock. Wines are made from vines close to 50 years in age - a rarity in the area as most are dug up after 40 years. All of her wine is bottled 'sur lie' ensuring prolonged contact with fine lees, enhancing the overall richness. The depth of flavour from these wines is amazing!
