Wine Making
The Meerlust Red 2019 a blend of 86 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 14 % Merlot grown on the historic Meerlust Estate in Stellenbosch. The wine was selected and blended for early drinkability but will reward maturation up to 8 years from vintage.
Tasting Notes
The wine is intense ruby red in colour and has a deep purple hue. The nose has intense cassis and plum notes with the characteristic Meerlust minerality and hints of Indian ink, chocolate and fennel.
The palate is rich with juicy fruit, silky refined tannins and layered complexity, opening to a soft, seductive mouthfeel with a lingering aftertaste.
